ft3 kicks off another United Way drive. This years fundraiser includes bake sales and a wine and cheese finale.

Robby, Rock, Jeanette and Joanne should be congratulated on a nice job at the new Neuropharmacology Lab at the John Buhler Research Centre. The $548,000 lab fit-up project is near completion with a total of $780 in change orders (3). That’s 0.14%. Well done!

ft3 BBQ a hot event

On one of the hottest days of the year, ft3 staff enjoyed yet another summer BBQ. This year staff participated in the summer olympic games version ft3, complete with gold, silver and bronze medals. A lot of food, fun and water guns were had by all.

ft3 Remains Committed to the Environment

The FT3 offices at the Strand is registered for LEED CI and was constructed with 97% of construction waste diverted from landfill. The FT3 Recycling and Composting committee has recently added 2 automatic composters that can generate usable compost within a month.

June 26, 2008 –

Habitat volunteer days

On June 25th and 26th, FT3 employees volunteered their vacation time to take part in a Habitat for Humanity Pre-Build construction project. Working hard on 30 degree celcuis days, the teams built wood-framed basement floors in two homes that are part of an infill project in the Winnipeg’s West End. FT3 has had an ongoing relationship with Habitat that included the Canstruction Competition, and design work on other housing projects in the City. The construction of these new homes was a great community-building experience with the added benefit of some valuable hands-on construction skills.

 

June 3 & 5, 2008 –

The Amazing Race version ft3

In a fierce battle of brains and brawns, groups of 2 were unleashed downtown. A $3 one block bus ride and office supply catapolts were only the beginning. The experience was electrifying. And as one contestant put it: “It can only be discribed as… AMAZING”

A Grand Opening Celebration

Our grand opening on Thursday evening was a joyous occasion. The ft3 office, located on the second floor of the Strand on Waterfront drive, boasts a healthy “green” design and expansive views.

Dauphin Community Health Centre’s Grand Opening

A new community services-based health centre connected to the existing Dauphin Community Hospital. The project is a two storey, 2,300 sq.m. (24,760 sq.ft.) facility which includes offices, interview rooms and multipurpose area for meetings and community outreach programs.

MS Walk Fundraiser - a delicious treat!

Like last year, Esther (Designer at Friesen Tokar) took part in the MS Walk. For the week preceeding the event, she baked treats for the office in exchange for donations. Esther raised $290 for MS this year. Way to go Esther, and thanks for the yummy treats!

On a beautiful Sunday afternoon, the staff and their families of ft3 enjoyed exciting games and delicious food complete with a very intense bake-off.  The games this year were polish golf and badminton with the exciting addition of a festive ft3 piñata.

January 25, 2007 – Press Release

New Winkler Library to Run Carbon Neutral

Friesen Tokar Architects + Landscape + Interior Designers (ft3) announced today that Winkler’s new public library will be running carbon neutral for at least ten years. The firm, which designed the new library opened on Saturday, January 27, 2007, has donated a carbon offset credit of 60 tonnes to the City of Winker.
