Renovation of existing Public Works building 4,645 sq.m. (50,000 sq.ft.) and new addition 6,503 sq.m. (70,000 sq.ft.) to accommodate the consolidation of several Public Works and Waste & Water departments. The design includes numerous green building initiatives, daylighting, using materials with a high recycled content and re-using existing brick, salvaged from another City of Winnipeg building. Scope of work included programming, interior design and space planning. The building is designed to meet Manitoba Hydro PowerSmart standards, and to exceed the Model National Energy Code by 35%, thereby receiving CBIP funding. The project was completed in 2006 at a construction cost of $11,200,000.
