Established in 1975, Friesen Tokar (ft3) provides full architectural, landscape and interior design services for projects throughout Canada, in the United States and overseas. With the Canadian Prairies as our primary market, we hold Certificates of Practice in Manitoba, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario, with offices in Winnipeg and Calgary. Principals of the firm are Rudy P. Friesen, Brian W. Tokar, Jerald D. Peters, Rock G. Jerome, Joanne L. McFadden, Ken A. MacKinnon and John B. van Leeuwen.
At ft3, our reputation is built upon a commitment to Client participation, sustainable design, design excellence (we recently won the RCMP national design competition) and pro-active project management. By providing responsive service while operating within a strong team environment and using state of the art production technology and equipment, Clients continue to request our services on an ongoing basis.
Management Structure of Firm
For each project we structure ourselves to provide the best team possible lead by one of our Project Leaders. The Project Leader remains the primary day-to-day contact with the Client and our team throughout the project.
Open minds - open space. There's no room for private offices and office hierarchy in our open office environment. Everyone has the same type of workstation, and workstations are grouped in clusters. When a project begins, team members are relocated into the same cluster. This provides for optimum communication, learning and collaboration between all team members, resulting in a more successful project.
The construction of our Winnipeg office has been a major learning opportunity for us. Designed to be LEED® Gold (currently awaiting certification from the CaGBC), the office space is our working laboratory where we explore and test design details and finishes in new ways prior to proposing them to our Clients. The open office space, natural light, and the views coupled with the extreme flexibility of workstations and technology has proven to be a tremendous environment for collaboration, great dialogue and creative design ideas.
